Pridnestrovian paralympic athlete won the bronze medal at the Powerlifting World Cup

Denis Rayul from Dubossary is one of the candidates to participate in the Paralympic Games in Tokyo

Dubossary, March 29. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Paralympic athlete from Dubossary Denis Rayul took part in the second stage of the Powerlifting World Cup and was awarded a bronze medal. The competition for physically disabled athletes was held in Manchester (United Kingdom) in the period from 25 to 28 March.

According to the paralympic athlete’s trainer Zinaida Iov, about 125 athletes from 22 world countries took part in them. Denis Rayul (a wheelchair person of the 1st disability group with cerebral spastic infantile paralysis) managed to show a decent result at the international championship.

“Due to the quarantine, the athlete had a sustained interruption from participating in international competitions, but we’ve never lost hope that competitions in the international sports arena will resume again. We continued persistent online trainings,” Zinaida Iov explained.

The trainer also reported that thanks to regular trainings on the updated system, Denis improved his physically fit, gained a large muscle bulk and moved to another weight category – up to 97 kg.

At the World Cup, he managed to lift a barbell weighing 165 kg in the third attempt. This gives the right to qualify for the forthcoming Paralympic Games, which will be held in Tokyo (Japan).

At the earliest possible time, the Dubossary athlete will take part in the world powerlifting Championship, which will be held in the period from May 6 to 9 in Pattaya (Thailand). Hereafter, the World Cup’s third and final stages will be held in the period from May to June in Tbilisi (Georgia) and Dubai (United Arab Emirates). Successful results in these competitions will allow Denis Rayul to win the cherished ticket to the Paralympiad.

“In this difficult period, I sincerely desire all my fellow countrymen an excellent health, a peaceful sky, fortitude, strength of will as well as unquenchable faith in the best future. I would like to say separate gratitude words and many thanks to my trainer, essentially, my second mother, as well as to everyone, who are supporting and believing in our further achievements,” Denis Rayul said.
