Bas-reliefs from Bendery socialist realism

The most outstanding decorative elements are included in the new tourist route

Bendery, March 29. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The city's bas-reliefs will be included in the new tourist route Socialist Realism in Bendery. There are more than a dozen of them, they are all different. Each is dedicated to certain event or expresses the idea of its time. Of course, the highest number of such monuments remained from Soviet times.

If you look closely at the buildings of previous years, you will notice that they are often decorated with decorative elements. Stone rosettes and curls on the facades are found in the historic center of the city. Often, memorial plaques on buildings also contain relief images.

“Relief is one of the sculpture types. All materials used in sculpture can also be used in reliefs. As a rule, they are used in the design of architectural facades. They can also perform as independent works of art," the rector of the V.I. Postoikin Higher Art College, Sergey Gorbachenko said in an interview with the BTV correspondent.

High relief of Evgeny Vuchetich “The Bearer of Peace, the Soviet People Glory!” is considered the most famous example of social realistic art.

Plaster, stone or metal - you can use any material to create bas-reliefs. The main thing is to take into account the weather conditions.

“You can make finer things in metal. If we take a chopped stone, then the plastic there is more monumental, a completely different sculptural language can be used. Accordingly, there will be a different image and a different mood. If we look at our city reliefs, I think that the Black Fence is the most iconic monument,” the specialist added.

There is a metal relief on the registry office building facade. The bas-relief adorns the building of the Prietenia hotel on the embankment, and also the river station. The building itself is unsightly. And the solar boat on its wall floats, as if being out of time and space.

The next point on the route is the Varnitsa bas-relief, located near the cannery building. The plant has not worked for many years, the monument turned out to be much more durable.

The walls of the car assembly plant collected something that the Soviet era was proud of.

The panel "Science is the Productive Power of the Era" was made in the sgraffito technique in the village of Giska. This is another point of the tourist route.

Contemporary sgraffito is displayed on the Higher Art College building. This is Viktor Postoikin` portrait and a student's thesis.

A modern bas-relief adorns the hotel building in the Bendery Fortress. There is the bas-relief on the monument to the peacekeepers near the Tkachenko Palace of Culture as an independent work.
