Tiraspol, February 22. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Vladislav Gudz brought the first medal to the Tiraspol team in the boxing competition Adriatic Pearl in Montenegro. The “Vityaz” club trainee boxed in the weight category up to 69 kg. The boxer from Tiraspol took part in three fights. In the battle for the tournament gold, Vladislav lost to the European champion, the Ukrainian Yuri Zakhareev. In the final count Vladislav Gudz became a silver medalist.
Another silver medal was won by Daria Kozorez, the Pridnestrovian boxing rising prospect. The champion of the European Youth Championships lost in her weight category over 81 kg to her rival from India.
“Daria has won silver this time. However, I want to say that her opponent has been very serious. She’s the champion of Asia. That fight was equal, but judges preferred the Indian athlete. By the way, there were professional clubs representatives too. They are already looking at the youth. Personally for me, as a coach, it’s gratefully that they distinguished our Dasha,” the PMR honored trainer Anatoly Akhmadiev said.
The second place in the Montenegro’s tournament was taken by Kristina Kiper in the weight category up to 60 kg. In common with Daria she’s a trainee of the “Kshatriy” sports club. Christina’s silver medal was dubbed with a symbol of woman bravery by trainers. The question at issue is that the young girl boxed in the European ring with a serious hand injury.
“We were at a 15-day training camp in Ukraine and there such a respectable sparring partners’ team was gathered. Christina boxed with European medalists and champions. It just happened that she seriously injured her finger. Nevertheless she decided to go for the international tournament. Doctors were beside us, it was necessary to accomplish constant refrigeration. But in the final count, she’s won a medal,” Anatoly Akhmadiev noted.
At the end of Adriatic Pearl, the Tiraspol boxers received an invitation to a cooperative training camp with the Moldavian team. The boxing camp will be unusual. It will include a team from Cuba. According to coaches, this will be a great experience exchange, because the Cubans’ boxing school is a foremost. This fact is especially important for sportsmen from Tiraspol: the World Championships is ahead. Four our boxers will go to the World Youth Championship, among them are Vladislav Gudz, Daniil Slepoy, Daria Kozorez and Christina Kiper. The World Championship will take place in Poland in mid-April.
