Oleg Belyakov: “The Moldovan side insists on discussing politically charged issues, that have no relevance to the JCC”

Joint Control Commission meeting was wrecked again

Bendery, February 4. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today, the Joint Control Commission another regular meeting was wrecked by the Moldovan delegation.

Representatives of the Republic of Moldova have been trying for a long time to include in the agenda issues, that are separate from the body reference, the JCC co-chairman from PMR Oleg Belyakov noted.

“The JCC work is distracted by the Moldovan side. They are trying to deviate from those issues, that are spelled out in regulations and the agreement of the year of 1992. There’s only one reason: to politicize the Joint Control Commission work, herewith proposing issues, that should be discussed at other negotiating platforms, within the framework of interaction between the RM and PMR relevant government authority” the co-chairman added.

According to Oleg Belyakov, due to the blocking of the JCC work, it’s not possible to assess the situation in the Security Zone, measures for preventing COVID-19 in peacekeeping units, as well as to hear an information about the peacekeeping posts state and the weapons and armament seizure over the half-year period.

“The Joint Control Commission should assess this work,” he summarized.

“We know only what work is performed in Pridnestrovie. But we don’t know what work is performed in Russian component of the peacekeeping mechanisms, as well as in Moldovan and Ukrainian ones. Also we don’t know how safety procedures are provided. Although there’s a whole plan, that provides for mutual work in the pandemic response and the coronavirus prevention in peacekeeping units,” Oleg Belyakov explained.

The JCC co-chairman from PMR believes, that demands and contradictions, that take place within the JCC framework are artificial. They are created only on the Moldovan side initiative. They don’t promote the work establishment within the framework of all peacekeeping mechanisms, Oleg Belyakov notes.

“For almost half a year, the JCC cannot assess the situation in the Security Zone. From the point of view of all approaches to peacekeeping mechanisms this’s a nonsense. The Moldovan side insists on discussing its politicized issues, that have no relevance to the Joint Control Commission,” the PMR JCC co-chairman emphasized.
