Tiraspol, December 19. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Sambo Kharlampiev Memorial World Cup started yesterday in Moscow.
The competition brought together about 300 of the strongest wrestlers from 15 countries of the world. Delegations from Belarus, Venezuela, China, Mexico, Colombia, Italy, Moldova and other countries are represented. During two competition days, the Cup participants will compete for 27 sets of medals.
Among the first prizewinners is the leader of the women's sambo in Pridnestrovie Sabina Artemchuk. Trainee of the Bendery Badanov wrestling school fought on the very first day of the competition. Her weight category is 60 kg. Our athlete made the top three.
“There is a medal, but this is not a super result for me,” World Cup bronze medalist Sabina Artemchuk admits, adding that given the pandemic, the year was tough.
The second place was taken by a sambo athlete from Uzbekistan Ibodatkhon Agozhonova. Karina Cherevan from Russia became the champion in weight up to 60 kg.
The Kharlampiev Memorial World Cup is named after one of the founders of sambo, Anatoly Kharlampiev. Competitions have been held since the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow. Since 1983, the World Cup winners have been awarded the title of International Master of Sports.
