From England to China through Pridnestrovie

The British Luke Grenfell-Shaw went on trip around the world by bicycle, after finding out, that has become ill with cancer

Tiraspol, November 24. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. From Bristol in England to China by bicycle: such a plan came to mind of a British guy two years ago. The staging ground was the diagnosis, that doctors gave him: cancer of the fourth stage. Then Luke Grenfell-Shaw decided to go on a trip around the world to feel the fullness of life.

Since January, he has visited many countries: France, Holland, Germany, Croatia, Romania. Already have traveled 16 countries, Luke says. Today, he arrived in Pridnestrovie. He began his acquaintance with our republic from the Bendery fortress.

“I decided, that I want to see new places, meet many people. So I went on trip around the world by bicycle. Firstly, I traveled around England, then I went through Europe, and now I’ve been in Pridnestrovie for half an hour and I’m very happy about that. It’s pleasant, that I have been met and accompanied by local bicyclists,” Luke shared.

Luke worked in Siberia as an English teacher, while studying Russian. With the people who meet him, the traveler speaks exceptionally in Russian.

Luke describes, that visiting different countries, he firstly wants to meet new people. This is the most important thing for him.

Luke will stay in Pridnestrovie for only a few days, after which he will go to Odessa, and then to Kiev. His tandem bike name is Chris. The traveler named his metal friend afrer his gone brother John Christopher. Luke says, that in this way he is travelling around the world with his brother.

During a pandemic, traveling across countries is more difficult. But the already famous traveler is provided with help and a hearty welcome everywhere. His visit to Pridnestrovie became possible thanks to the support of the PMR President’s Administration.

“Nothing is impossible. If something goes wrong with you, just change it and you will definitely succeed. Believe in it,” such advice Luke Grenfell-Shaw gives to everyone.

In 2019, Luke founded the CanLive movement. “I am convinced, that even with such diagnosis as cancer, you can live a full life,” he says.

The inscription “Bristol2Beijing” on his bicycle, means “the Global Tandem Bike Expedition”. Its main goal is to rethink what is possible with a cancer diagnosis. Everyone wishing to attend is invited to participate in it. You can contact Luke and follow his journey on social networks.
