Tiraspol, June 29 ./Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The validity period of the Protocol Decision ''On the Principles of Resumption of a Full-Scale Freight Railway Communication through the territory of Pridnestrovie'' has been extended. The President of the PMR and the Prime Minister of Moldova (without a personal meeting) signed an additional protocol extending the validity of this document for six months. According to the press service of the PMR Ministry of Foreign Affairs, by mutual agreement of the parties, the document will be valid until December 31, 2020.
Recall that the railway connection through the territory of Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic was interrupted in March 2006. This was a result of the new rules for the passage of goods across the border introduced by Moldova and Ukraine on March 3, 2006. It led to the economic blockade of Pridnestrovie. Trains followed through the north of Moldova to bypass the territory of the PMR.
In December 2006, with the assistance of the Russian Federation, the movement of the Moscow-Chisinau passenger train was resumed.
On March 30, 2012, a protocol decision ''On the Principles of Resumption of a Full-Scale Freight Railway Communication through the territory of Pridnestrovie'' was signed. At the same time, the border crossing on the Ukrainian-Pridnestrovie border Slobodka-Kolbasna is still closed for the import of fuel and lubricants. This problem is one of the issues on the negotiating agenda.
