Dubossary, February 12./Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Denis Rayul 28-year-old master of sports on powerlifting (wheelchair-user of the I group) from Dubossary successfully opened a new season of sports competitions of the world level for persons with disabilities.
Paras-athlet performed at the World Powerlifting Cup in Nigeria. About 200 athletes from 21 countries took part in competitions. Denis Rayul acted in weight category 80 kg, group A, and lifted 155 kg rod weighing.
According to the Dubossary athlete’s trainer Zinaida Iov, the participants for the Summer Paralympic Games 2020 will be selected from this group.
''I believe we have successfully opened this year because we have fulfilled the necessary quota (150 kg qualification minimum). In these categories, there are very strong athletes. The Nigeria team introduced a lot of powerful athletes. We will work to burn worthy weights and achieve the result,'' Zinaida Iov told.
The athlete from Dubossary has been engaged in the professional sports for 5 years. This year Denis Rayul plans to take part in the Paralympic Games in Japan. This requires another selection in April in the United Arab Emirates.
Despite the high results, the main achievement in life Denis considers not success at different level competitions, but the fact he was able to overcome himself and learned to move independently with the help of walkers and crutches.
''I have corrected my scoliosis and I have improved my physical health. I have become more resilient, a great spiritual force has appeared. For me, these workouts are the meaning of life. Thanks to my trainer, I believed in myself. For people with disabilities, there are not always places where they could realize themselves. Besides sports, I develop in other directions. While I am an athlete, I dream to take part in the Paralympics. And over time I will be able to work as a trainer and to help other children with disabilities,'' the master of sports on powerlifting Denis Rayul told.
