Tiraspol, January 15. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today, the Government of Moldova postponed the introduction of the so-called second phase of joint Moldo-Ukrainian customs and border control in Kuchurhan until August 1, 2020. It should be recalled that earlier it was planned to introduce on February 1.

Such a decision was made the day after the representatives of political affairs of the PMR and the RM Vitaly Ignatiev and Alexander Flenchea meeting in Tiraspol. During the conversation, the Pridnestrovian side emphasized the problem of February 1 specifying in detail all possible risks and negative consequences, especially in the sphere of import of goods into Pridnestrovie.

As the Minister of PMR Foreign Affairs Vitaly Ignatiev noted earlier, the consequences of such measures for Pridnestrovie “may prove unpredictable”. Three areas are at risk: import of goods, people’s freedom of movement and security.

“The presence of Moldovan border guards in Kuchurhan can lead to provocations and other problems. For example, high incidences at the airport of Chisinau. Nowadays  the border guards of the Republic of Moldova prevent travel through the Ukrainian and Romanian-Moldovan border drivers with Pridnestrovian driver's license”, Vitaly Ignatiev said at the end of last year. He also has noted that the Pridnestrovian side has tools of various nature to protect its interests.

The joint Moldo-Ukrainian customs post on the Pridnestrovian border began work on May 31, 2017. The Pridnestrovian side repeatedly emphasized the politicized nature of the joint control project threatening the foreign economic activity of Pridnestrovie, freedom of movement and security. Thus, in 2018 Moldova did not pass cargo with medicines in Pridnestrovie through the Kuchurhan customs crossing point.
