Pridnestrovie plans to establish a center for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases

Now, patients with a diagnosis of heart attack are being treated in neighboring states

Tiraspol, December 14. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Government is preparing a program for the development of cardiac care in Pridnestrovie. In the medium term, a center for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) will appear in our republic. This was announced on air of the First Pridnestrovian TV channel by the Chairman of the Government Alexander Martynov.

At the moment, Pridnestrovie does not have the necessary medical equipment for the treatment of more complex cardiac diseases. According to the Prime Minister, the main problem is the lack of qualified specialists.

“It’s relatively easy to get medical equipment. We need an angiographic unit (for vascular research), an operating room, specific for these purposes. The problem is where to get the specialists. Intervention cardiologists are needed to carry out such interferences,” Alexander Martynov said.

He noted that it is necessary to spend from four to five years on the training of such specialists. Therefore, the purchase of the necessary equipment would be irrelevant now: there would be no one to work with it. In this case, the problem of treatment of cardiac patients began to be solved in a different way.

“While preparing to open such an operating room in Pridnestrovie, we began to buy the necessary services in neighboring countries. So, citizens who need such urgent medical care can obtain it now, and not after 5 years,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

The Prime Minister shared that the high mortality of people from CVD made them to do such a step. In his opinion, for example, our doctors cannot always help treating for heart attack not because of their lack of education, but because they do not have the necessary technologies and equipment. Therefore, in the summer of this year, they began to send patients to neighboring states for treatment. Alexander Martynov said that he had visited a private clinic and had been impressed by the speed and quality of assistance for a heart attack.

“We were very impressed how the person who was dying was saved in a matter of minutes, and three days later he returned to his usual life. Therefore, we decided to amend the budget and resupplied the ambulances with special cardiologic equipment so that such a patient could be quickly taken to these clinics, and concluded an agreement with such clinics to provide the necessary services,” the Prime Minister said.

He said that when a person feels sick, they will quickly take him to our cardiology department, where they will be examined urgently. If there is a suggestion of a heart attack, then the patient is sent to a clinic which an agreement has been concluded with. It takes two to three hours.

“Over the past six months, 143 people were thus saved. The chief cardiologist noted that if there had been no such program, then 45 people out of those 143 would have lost their lives. The rest would have remained disabled or died in the near future due to the fact that the heart is not beating properly,” Alexander Martynov said.

The Prime Minister noted that, according to statistics, there are 300-350 people a year who have a heart attack. The Head of Government also emphasized that thanks to such a program, it is really possible to save about 100 lives a year and save another 200 people from disability.
