Among 1500 participants from 80 countries 30 sets of medals and a quota for participation in the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020 will be won or lost.

Alexander Dyachenko acted in paring with Yury Postrigay. Together they became Olympic champions in 2012 in London. In the current championship, they were the first on the 200 m distance and reached the final. By the way, this race is not included in the Olympic program therefore here only medals are the motivation for athletes.
Kirill Shamshurin has a full authority to count on the Japanese quota. The canoe pair on 1000 m is an Olympic distance. In pare with the prize-winner of the London games Ilya Pervukhin they are also finalists of the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championship.
Sergey Vikhrov from Tiraspol acted as a part of the national team of Moldova. He did not pass the World Cup selection.
