Vadim Krasnoselsky, opening the meeting at the presidential office, noted that he expects to discuss with the European diplomat the current situation in the negotiation process and ways to solve existing problems. The PMR President emphasized the need to move forward, not only in the practical implementation of the reached agreements, but also in new achievements. Telecommunications, cooperation in the banking sector, termination of politically motivated criminal cases, full functioning of the bridge across the Bychok and Gura-Bykului, as well as the unblocking of the northern railway line are among the issues that remain relevant. Vadim Krasnoselsky, expressing interest and readiness to discuss in detail each aspect, noted that many issues remain unresolved due to the inaction of the Moldovan side. The President expressed confidence in this context that the efforts of international mediators and observers could have a significant impact on the intensification of the negotiation process.
The Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, in turn, emphasized that he expected to discuss the results of recent working visit in the “3 + 2” format. Claus Neukirch spoke about the newly arisen dynamics in the negotiations, mentioned the dialogue of representatives of the parties. It is also about preparing for holding meetings in the “5 + 2” format in Bratislava and the Bavarian conference in November. Commenting on the issues identified by Vadim Krasnoselsky, the Ambassador noted the relevance and significance of the problems in the field of telecommunications and banking. He said that the OSCE Mission intends to invite an international expert to consultations on the banking issue. According to preliminary plans, the specialist will begin work in September.
According to the Head of the Mission, the OSCE does not leave without practical attention the bridge over the Dniester. Claus Neukirk considers its opening and further ensuring full functioning to be a significant infrastructure project. The diplomat said that the OSCE held a tender that determined the company that will assess the technical condition of the facility. In addition, the issue of repairing not only the bridge, but also the highway, is being discussed.
The interlocutors in the course of the meeting discussed other issues of interest to the parties, and also agreed to continue constructive dialogue.
