Tiraspol, August 5. / Novosti Pridnestrovya/. From August 1-st to August 4 the World rowing on kayaks and canoe championship among juniors up to 19 years and athletes up to 23 years took place in the Romanian city Pitești. Rowers from 61 countries participated in the competitions.
Pridnestrovie as a part of Russian national team was represented by the sportsmen of the Tiraspol junior rowing and shooting sports school Danil Vetrov, (the trainer – Vyacheslav Sokolenko) and Vladislav Chebotar (the trainer – Vladimir Bespalov), it is reported on the website of the State Service for Sport.
Danil Vetrov performed at two distances – the kayak single (1000 m) and as a part of the kayak four crew (500 m), and Vladislav Chebotar – as a part of the canoe pair crew with Ivan Likhovidov (1000 m).
In preliminary race on the kayak single at a 1000 m distance, Danil Vetrov showed the second result, having conceded to the Hungarian athlete Andreas Roedl. In semifinal race Vyacheslav Sokolenko's sportman showed the best result, having been ahead of all the competitors. In the final Danil Vetrov showed the ninth result.
In the preliminary race at a 500 m distance the Russian crew Danil Vetrov, Nikita Barannikov, Vladlen Ushakov and Nikita Maximov showed the second result, having given way to the Portuguese crew 1.170 seconds. This result allowed them to pass in a semi-final of competitions where they finished the first. In the final our athletes became the fourth, having conceded to winners, the German crew, 2.190 seconds, and to the Ukrainian crew which took the third place only 0.022 seconds. The second place in this race was taken by a crew from Hungary.
In preliminary race at a 1000 m distance, Vladislav Chebotar from Tiraspol in pare with Ivan Likhovidov took the fourth place. However, this result allowed them to come through to the semifinal. There they were the best, having been ahead of the closest persecutors, Italians, for 0.988 seconds. In final race our crew took fourth place.
