Russian peacekeeping forces were introduced in Pridnestrovie 27 years ago

The start date of the Russian peacekeeping operation on the Dniester is July 29, 1992. Events dedicated to the 27th anniversary of the peacekeeping contingent began today in the park named after Alexander Nevsky in Bendery. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky, leaders and representatives of the bodies of state power and administration of the PMR, the Joint Control Commission, the Operational Group of Russian Forces in Pridnestrovie, residents of the republic came to congratulate and thank peacekeepers for 27 years of peace and tranquility.

Soldiers of the Russian and Pridnestrovian contingents of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, as well as future defenders of the Fatherland — the cadets and pupils of Suvorov military school — lined up on the parade ground of the Alexander Nevsky Park this day.

The events preceding the entry of Russian peacekeepers into Pridnestrovie were recalled by Oleg Belyakov, co-chairman of the JCC of Pridnestrovie. On the initiative of Russia, on July 21, 1992, the “Agreement on the principles of peaceful settlement ...” was signed, and on July 27, the JCC was created, which immediately began the procedure for entering peacekeeping forces in the Security Zone. Further events showed that the elaborated mechanism, which allowed the conflicting parties to sit at the negotiating table under the guarantees of the Russian Federation, ensured peace on Pridnestrovian land, added the JCC Co-Chair from Pridnestrovie.

Addressing the peacekeeping servicemen and participants of the event, the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic emphasized that the leadership of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic is not against dialogue. According to Vadim Krasnoselsky, the attitude of the Pridnestrovian people to the peacekeepers is transparent and understandable.

During the speech, Vadim Krasnoselsky noted the uniqueness of the peacekeeping operation on the banks of the Dniester. Side by side peace and tranquility is ensured by the peacekeepers of Russia, Pridnestrovie and Moldova. Military observers from Ukraine also take part in the peacekeeping mission.

On the eve of the 27th anniversary of the commissioning of the military contingent of the peacekeeping forces of the Russian Federation in Pridnestrovie, a number of servicemen of the Russian Federation and Pridnestrovian were awarded state awards of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
