Tiraspol, July, 23. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The 31st annual intercontinental swim through the Bosphorus Strait (Samsung Bosphorus Cross), organized by the National Olympic Committee of Turkey, took place in Istanbul. 2.4 thousand people from 59 countries of the world took part in it.
The swim was launched at the Kanlij marina in the Asian part of the megapolis, and it ended in the Jemil Topuzlu Park area in the European part of Istanbul. All the way of 6.5-kilometer distance the athletes were accompanied by boats with doctors and rescuers.
Among the swimmers there was Vadim Noshchenko from Tiraspol. According to Radio 1, he won a bronze medal in his age group (60–64 years).
Two years ago, Vadim Noshchenko sailed all the way through Bosphorus for the first time. Since then, thanks to regular training, he was able to improve his result by 7 minutes and get into the winners.
One more Tiraspol citizen, Ignat Kazmaly participated in the swim for the 17th time. Last year, he received an award as an athlete who has got through Bosphorus a record number of times.
