OLEG BELYAKOV: THE POSITION OF THE MOLDOVAN SIDE ON POSTS IS COUNTERPRODUCTIVE

Representatives of Tiraspol emphasize that changes in the functioning of posts are aimed at simplifying the procedure for crossing the border

Bendery, May, 30. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. At the next meeting of the JCC, the Moldovan side once again raised the issue of changes in the work of Pridnestrovian posts in the Security Zone.

It should be reminded that upon the authority of the President of the PMR, border guards began to perform the functions of the migration service employees. This made it possible to reduce the size of the posts and simplify the procedure for crossing the border.

Representatives of the Republic of Moldova insist on the need to replace border guards with Interior Ministry officials.

According to the head of the Pridnestrovian delegation to the JCC, Oleg Belyakov, this position of the representatives of the Republic of Moldova is counterproductive.

“The border guards have been in the Security Zone since 1992, they have been serving without weapons, and there have never been questions,” Oleg Belyakov said.

The Co-chair of the JCC noted that Moldova, in turn, on the contrary, increases the number of law enforcement officers in certain posts.

“In the area of the Ustye settlement (Dubossary District) the police post was reinforced twice. They were required to notify the JCC, but this was not done, while the Pridnestrovian side notifies of its changes in advance,” Oleg Belyakov noted.

He urged his colleagues to focus on issues directly affecting peace processes.
