Russian military historian Alexey Isaev, known for his research on the events of the Great Patriotic War, published an article about Vladimir Bochkovsky`s legendary raid on Kolomiya in March 1944. The author, on the basis of the documents, told in detail how the tank detachment led by our countryman set out for a fairly risky campaign, which ended, however, with major success. Captain Bochkovsky, who did not even turn 21 at that time, captured a large railway junction and ferries across the Prut River, providing convenient logistics for the further advance of Katukov's tank army.
