Tiraspol, February, 28. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. For more than 20 years the public organization Dubossary Jewish Community has been functioning in Pridnestrovie. The main goals of the association are the preservation of the traditions and original culture of the Jewish people, as well as assistance to elderly citizens, people with disabilities, the Great Patriotic War veterans and ghetto prisoners. Representatives of the organization pay special attention to the cultural monuments preservation: they maintain in proper condition the Jewish cemetery and Victims of Fascism memorial.
Aronov family has been in the Jewish Community for many years. They moved from Grozny to Dubossary to take up permanent residence in the early 1990s. During this time, Elizaveta and Gennady raised three sons, now they are helping to bring up 9 grandchildren and are engaged in active public activities.
“Jews are a friendly people. We help people not only of Jewish, but also of other nationalities. Our community works closely and is friendly with all national communities: Russian, Ukrainian and Moldavian” - Elizaveta Aronova, a volunteer of the Dubossary Jewish community said.
Elizaveta Pavlovna and Gennady Romanovich respect the ancient Jewish traditions since childhood. Both of them grew up in the families of the Mountain Jews. Aronov spouses managed to introduce their children and grandchildren to the spiritual and cultural-creative heritage of the Jewish people.
“We are trying to preserve our ancient traditions, and thanks to the Jewish Community, we can involve young generation in this. We celebrate all religious holidays. I try to acquaint each person with the names of Jewish holidays, to tell where they came from, what traditions must be observed and why. And this must always be done, otherwise traditions will be forgotten, and we will cease to exist as a people” - Elizaveta Aronova said.
Hanukkah, Purin, Pesach, Shavuot, Shabbat. All religious holidays are celebrated in the Dubossary Jewish Community. According to representatives of the community, many of them signify the liberation of Jews from enemies and symbolize the freedom of the Jewish people.
“The most important tradition is Shabbat. One of the 10 Jewish commandments that every Jew must fulfill. Its inherent attributes are a table covered with a tablecloth, two lighted candles, Halla, kosher wine or grape juice (fruit of the vine). This is a sacred holiday, and therefore nothing can be done on this day. This day is devoted to the family: parents, children, relatives. This tradition brings people together, allows you to spend more time together. I think it should be preserved” - Elizaveta Aronova noted.
Members of the organization provide great assistance to the elderly and those in need of treatment and care for citizens through the implementation of social programs and the support of international charitable foundations. Representatives of the organization invest their own funds for various projects related to the preservation of the traditions and customs of the Jewish people.
