Tiraspol, February, 13. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Chairman of the PMR Central Election Commission, Elena Gorodetskaya informed the President Vadim Krasnoselski about the meetings held at the RF CEC and at the Russian Training Center for Electoral Technologies, which focuses on interaction with young people.
The head of state press service reminds that there is an agreement on the foreign citizens` participation in the Atmosphere competition, which is held among young people and teachers of principle subjects (social studies, history).
“This competition is interesting because, being a platform for analytical, research, creative work it motivates young people to demonstrate their knowledge and skills, as well as the prospects of participating in similar events in other forums. By September, Pridnestrovians will be able to apply for participation in the competition” - Elena Gorodetskaya noted.
Another interesting point is holding of webinars and training modules by the Russian Training Center for Electoral Technologies in 2020: members of Pridnestrovian election commissions have the opportunity to participate in them. The head of the Pridnestrovian Central Election Commission reminded that on November 29, 2020, a single voting day will be held in Pridnestrovie.
The practical outcome of the working dialogue between Elena Gorodetskaya with the leadership of the Russian Council of Youth and Children's Associations was an agreement to provide Pridnestrovians with the opportunity to visit Artek and Dialog camps.
In addition, the head of the CEC told the President about the plan of activities for the Day of the Young Voter, which will be held at the end of March this year. Elena Gorodetskaya thanked Vadim Krasnoselski for his initiative to create youth election commissions, which currently include 131 people.
“A lot of guys are actively involved in work. They fulfill their potential in volunteer activities, and even hold lectures among schoolchildren on topics introducing the electoral process. About 10 such lectures are planned in Tiraspol” - Elena Gorodetskaya said.
She added that youth election commissions would hold a nationwide survey among young people from 18 to 30 years old on February 16. Respondents will be asked, for example, about their desire to participate in elections and what channel of information they prefer.
The results of the survey will be announced on March 19 during a political dispute, where pupils of schools, students, representatives of youth election commissions, the youth parliament, political parties, as well as specialists with experience in organizing and conducting elections will participate.
Elena Gorodetskaya added that the program of events for the Day of the Young Voter also includes holding of thematic games and the organization of an open day at the CEC.
The PMR President stressed the importance of the Central Election Commission work with young people, noting that in the future it should be expanded and intensified.
“It is necessary at the initial stage to explain and show young people what the electoral process is, in order to generate political activity and interest in this process. It is very important for us to know who would become parliamentarians, deputies of district and city councils. The activities of the councils create and ensure the implementation of checks and balances principle. In any case, the rule of law is significant. And who adopts laws? Only the Supreme Council, in which specific people work, does that. When these people are ready to work, are interested in the result, have the necessary qualifications, a high-quality legal base will be formed in the state” - Vadim Krasnoselski emphasized.
