Bendery, 14 June. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A military observer from the Republic of Moldova was appointed at a regular meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC). The JCC members heard a number of reports about the situation in the Security Zone.
As Pridnestrovie's co-chair to the JCC Oleg Belyakov noted in an interview with journalists, the parties focused on the interaction of peacekeepers with the local authorities and law enforcement agencies, as well as the seizure of arms and ammunition.
According to the co-chairman, this work is conducted on a systematic basis.
"Another report has shown that such procedures [the seizure of weapons] are carried out togeather with law enforcement agencies, sappers and with the participation of peacekeeping forces. The peacekeepers continue close cooperation with the local authorities. In the past week alone two explosive objects have been seized," added Oleg Belyakov.
