Vadim Krasnoselsky: ‘I am sure that only together with Russia will our country live in peace and prosperity’

This was stated by the president ahead of a military parade in Tiraspol

Tiraspol, 9 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Welcoming veterans, servicemen and all the Pridnestrovians ahead of a military parade in Tiraspol, President Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized the particular importance of 9 May, noting that it was on this on this day, which has become a symbol of heroism, solidarity and infinite loyalty to Motherland, a tribute to all those who at the cost of their lives or hard labour defended the right of the Soviet people to freedom and independence is paid.

The president recalled the bravery and heroism of Pridnestrovians, 12 of whom were awarded the country's highest award - the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

I am convinced that we, Pridnestrovians, will never forget and will carry through generations gratitude to all who forged a victory and approached such hard-won and long-awaited peace on the military and labour fronts, in partisan detachments and underground organisations. There is no family in our country that wouldn't have been affected by war. Therefore, taking part in the Immortal Regiment march with a portrait of your own relative is not just memory and the deepest homage but also a great pride and honour.

Addressing veterans, the president stressed that we all owe our lives life and a peaceful sky above our heads to their heroic generation. The president considers the people's memory of the Great Patriotic War and gratitude for the victory to be a sacred duty of everyone.

"The victory of 1945 was gained at a cost of millions of lives of the Soviet people who died on the battlefields, died during the siege of towns and aerial bombardment, who were killed and tortured by the Nazis in the occupied territories and in concentration camps. The enemy destroyed 1710 cities and towns, more than 70,000 villages. The Soviet Union lost during the war about 30 percent of the national wealth," recalled the president.

"I am sure that only together with Russia will our country live in peace and prosperity, and the history and cultural heritage of our common ancestors will be carefully preserved and multiplied," Vadim Krasnoselsky said in the closing part of his speech.
