Tiraspol, November 15. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The statutory act regulating the holding of public assemblies to be amended. Today, the Supreme Council has passed the Assembly, Street Processions and Demonstrations Bill. It has to replace the current Public Assembly Organization Law because its statutory wording, as it is noted in the explanatory note to the initiative, has deteriorated.
The bill provides some change in the conceptual framework and also adds the principles of holding public assemblies.
One of the innovations will concern one-person pickets. They can be held without authorities' approval. Terms of notice of other types of public events won't change. Information should be submitted to the public authorities not earlier than before 15 days before the event and not later than 10 days after. However, the notice of a picket by a group of persons can be submitted in three days prior.
The amendments to the Administrative Offences Code within the legislative package add greater punitive measures for repeated violation of the public events procedure. Regular citizens can be charged a penalty at the rate of 40 estimated points of minimum wage (EP MW) (736 PMR rub), officials -100 EP MW (1840 PMR rub), legal entities – 150 EP MW (2760 PMR rub).
