Tiraspol, 13 November. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. There are no factors that could cause a sharp devaluation of the rouble, the chairman of the Pridnestrovian Republican Bank (PRB) Vladislav Tidva, said during a joint meeting of the praesidiums of the government and the Supreme Council.
"There is no particular agiotage in the foreign exchange market. There is no increase in demand either in the cash money market or on the part of economic entities. The foreign exchange corridor is in the range of 15-15.5 roubles. It will be maintained; the official exchange rate won't be increased... There are nor prerequisites for the explosive growth of the exchange rate," said Tidva.
According to Tidva, there are indeed some imbalances in the foreign exchange market related to the negative foreign trade balance. However, their significance is not so great, and rumours that the US dollar will soon soar to 20 roubles are unfounded.
The head of the central bank warned economic entities that carry out most of the transactions in roubles against purchasing foreign exchange currency for future because when they need to exchange it back to roubles, they will incur costs because of the difference between the purchase and sale ranks.
The chairman of the government, Alexander Martynov, also called on businessmen to avoid using rumours about the upcoming fall of the rouble rate to increase extra charges and absorb super-profits.
"There is a compelling request to participants of the foreign exchange market and entrepreneurs not to aggravate the situation in the foreign exchange market and not to ramp up prices, which are already high enough, but rather to heed the forecast of the central bank and the government. We will keep our word. In particular, the central bank will maintain the current parameters of the foreign exchange corridor, so there are no grounds for an unreasonable increase in prices for goods and services," said Martynov.
"Both the government and central bank and Supreme Council will do everything to maintain the rate within the established parameters," he added Martynov.
The joint meeting of the praesidiums of the government and the Supreme Council was held on the initiative of President Vadim Krasnoselsky. According to Alexander Martynov, such meetings will become regular and allow government and parliament members to "synchronize the watches", to establish closer cooperation, which should help to develop more efficient managerial decisions.
