Tiraspol, 12 October. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. President Vadim Krasnoselsky met Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muižnieks, the president's press service reports.
At the beginning of the meeting, the president noted that respect for human rights was very important for Pridnestrovie. "In a state in which everyone obeys the law — from the president to an ordinary citizen — human rights violations are virtually excluded," believes Krasnoselsky.
The president maintained, at the same time, there were instances of human rights violations in relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova.
"You have met our Moldovan colleagues; they may have mentioned such facts. Please, don't hesitate to ask us and I'll clarify every fact of concern to the Moldovan side," said the president.
Nils Muižnieks thanked Vadim Krasnoselsky for the opportunity to discuss the human rights situation in Pridnestrovie. He reported on a meeting he had held with NGO members in Pridnestrovie.
The commissioner stressed the interest in human rights observance in Pridnestrovian prisons as well as domestic violence. The European guests focused on the rights of disabled persons, in particular, their incorporation in the general education system.
The parties also discussed the prospects for further cooperation between the Council of Europe and Pridnestrovie in the sphere of human rights.
