Pridnestrovian athlete wins bronze at World Canoeing Championship

The competition took place from 23 to 27 August in the Czech city of Racice

Tiraspol, 28 August. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Czech city of Racice was the host of the World Canoeing Championship. The Russian national team included five trainees of Pridnestrovian sports schools, the website of the State Agency for Sports reports.

Vladislav Chebotar was the most successful of our athletes. He won bronze in the men's C-2 1000 m together with Viktor Melantyev.

The Russian crew came third losing 1.5 sec to the Germans, who won gold. The Cubans became runners-up.

The prize winner of the 2012 London Olympics became only fourth in the men's C-1 200 m final. Alexander Dyachenko and Kirill Lyapunov also came fourth in the men's K-2 200 m.

Kirill Shamshurin took fifth place in the C-1 1500 m and seventh place in the C-1 1000 m. The Russian crew, including Kirill Shamshurin, Rasul Ishmukhametov, Ivan Likhovidov and Ilya Pervukhin, became sixth in the C-4 1000 m.

The Russian team still won gold at the championship: Viktor Melantyev and Ivan Shtyl were first in the C-2 500 m.
