Pridnestrovie to adopt single standard of state-run enterprise management

This will allow a more efficient use of state assets, the government believes

Tiraspol, 20 June. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A single standard of corporate management will be developed for Pridnestrovian state-run companies, the Pridnestrovian prime minister, Alexander Martynov, said during a news conference on 20 June.

«We are in favour of an open process, and soon this standard will be developed or rather borrowed from the international standard. Starting next year, the transparency rules, common to all, will be applied to all state-run enterprises. As a result, we expect a more rational use of state funds, state assets," said Martynov.

According to the prime minister, the international corporate management standards require the drafting of a business plan before the start of the fiscal year and the formalisation of a pay policy. They also prescribe an internal audit of companies whose results are published in the media.

«Because state-run enterprises belong to people and not to bureaucrats,' Martynov explained, recalling that at the start of 2017 the government had been faced with mismanagement prevailing in many state-owned companies.

Those enterprises, according to him, had no control of business plan implementation and corporate payroll rules. «Many managers of state-run enterprises had no vision of how their companies would work in 2017; they had no idea why the payroll system looked like that… A top manager's salary cannot exceed that of an engineer's by 20 or even 50 times. Unfortunately, such facts were discovered," noted Martynov.
