Tiraspol, 30 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The verdict of Moldovan judges, which has labelled the Russian military as occupants, also refers to the peacekeepers who stopped the bloody conflict of 1992, Pridnestrovie's foreign minister Vitaly Ignatyev commented on the Moldovan Constitution Court's decision granting the Moldovan authorities the right to apply any measures, including military, to protect the country's territorial integrity.
«Such decisions do not only seriously complicate our relations, but also create legal prerequisites for further attempts to disrupt the Russia-led peacekeeping operation. We consider the Russian peacekeepers the only reliable guarantor of stability in the region. Therefore, any provocations of this kind are playing with fire. This is particularly dangerous today when the growing pressure on Pridnestrovie is a direct threat to regional stability," the foreign minister believes.
He maintained that much had been done in recent years to hinder the peacekeeping operation in the Dniester region, with Kishinev having hand in it too. Thus the Moldovan policemen systematically put various obstacles in the rotation of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.
The diplomat recalled an egregious case that occurred on 12 May 2017 at Kishinev Airport where a Russian peacekeeper was seized of Pridnestrovian decorations following an unwarranted search.
«Such actions go counter to the mechanisms and legal framework of the peacekeeping operation. They aim to impose on Russia a certain discriminatory procedure of military personnel rotation, and in the long term to achieve a phase-by-phase withdrawal of the Russian troops. Pridnestrovie, on its part, is doing its utmost to provide the Russian peacekeeping contingent with the necessary resources," said Ignatyev.
