Bendery, 4 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Moldovan delegation to the Joint Control Commission (ОСС) raised the issue of the transparency of the Security Zone, in particular that of the deployment of military units there and the conduct of various exercises. Pridnestrovie's JCC co-chair Oleg Belyakov said in response that the existing monitoring mechanism allowed for the control of all units in the Security Zone. And the recent exercises of the Pridnestrovian army had been conducted outside it.
«The Moldovan side may be concerned, but these drills are held outside the Security Zone, are quite transparent and covered in the media. That's what we cannot say about the Moldovan side. We know that mIlitary exercises are permanently carried out at the Bulboaca firing ground, but we know nothing about which units and hardware are involved, about the ways it is taken there bypassing the Security Zone," said Oleg Belyakov.
The Pridnestrovian delegation explained that as the Bulboaca firing ground directly borders on the Security Zone, the passage of military hardware should be agreed upon with military observers, which is not the case, underscored Oleg Belyakov.
