Pridnestrovie's turnover grows by 2% in the first quarter of 2017

Besides, exports to Belarus increased by 2.4 times

Tiraspol, 27 April. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Pridnestrovie's exports to Russia rose to $12.7 million in the first quarter of 2017 from $7.8 million in the same period of 2016, the Pridnestrovie daily reports, citing the State Customs Committee (SCC).

President Krasnoselsky has repeatedly pointed out that Pridnestrovie needs to balance its presence in European and Eurasian markets. To this end, it is necessary to expand the supply of Pridnestrovian goods to Russia. This is one of the government's priorities today. The share of our exports to Russia amounted to 10.3% in the first quarter, compared to 6% a year ago, which also testifies to growth.

In January-March Pridnestrovie increased its supplies to $1.2 million from $0.5 million last year to another country of the Eurasian Economic Union — Belarus

In general, Pridnestrovie's turnover in the first three months amounted to nearly $342, increasing by 2%. In addition, over $14 million of turnover accounted for individual entrepreneurs, which is nearly $3 million more than last year.

«Our imports are still higher than exports. Pridnestrovie's total imports in the first quarter amounted to $219 million, and its exports to $123 million," writes the newspaper.

As already noted, a bit over a tenth of the total exports accounted to Russia, whereas the EU's share exceeds 30% with $37.4 million worth of goods being sold there in January-March.

The main importers of Pridnestrovian goods in Europe remain Romania, Italy, Germany, Bulgaria, as well as the countries of the Visegrad Group: Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Turnover with Moldova totalled almost $72 million, rising thus by 10% compared to last year. Of this $72 million, $52 million accounts for Pridnestrovie's exports to Moldova.

There is also an increase in turnover with Ukraine as both exports and imports rose in comparison with the first quarter of 2016. Pridnestrovie's exports to Ukraine reached $17 million, which is twice as much as in January-May 2016 and makes 14% in the total exports.

As noted by the Chamber of Commerce and Trade, in the first quarter Pridnestrovie traded with 65 countries. According to forecasts, the number of trade partners is going to increase by the end of the year.
