Tiraspol, 3 April. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Russia's State Duma MP, a member of the education and science committee, co-chair of the Immortal Regiment of Russia movement Nikolay Zemtsov has arrived in Pridnestrovie today. Accompanied by the chairman of the Supreme Council, Alexander Scherba, a delegation of Pridnestrovian public activists and members of the Youth Parliament, the Russian guest laid flowers to the graves of the warriors of the Great Patriotic War at Tiraspol's Glory Memorial and took part in a roundtable talk held in the Tiraspol Joint Museum.
Nikolay Zemtsov noted that Immortal Regiment is a tribute to the memory, the family history which must be passed from generation to generation.
«Victory Day is coming soon when the streets of Russian cities and Tiraspol will be overflowed by Immortal Regiment rivers. This popular tradition keeps the memory of the years when our fathers and grandfathers did what nobody had believed in. And we as their descendants are the heirs of that great Victory. Many times, Russian soldiers saved the cities and countries of Europe from various misfortunes, and, with God's help, the people of Europe will remember to whom they owe their freedom," said the Russian MP.
Furthermore, the first step has been taken today in establishing ties with Pridnestrovian colleagues and NGOs: a regional office of the Immortal Regiment of Russia movement has been opened in Tiraspol. The office will provide hotline service which, according to Zemtsov, will help «to clarify the fate of the missing soldiers of the Great Patriotic War».
«All our voluntary initiatives implemented within the Immortal Regiment of Russia project will be available to Pridnestrovians as well," said the Russian guest.
In addition, the chairman of the Pridnestrovian Association of Afghan War Veterans, Igor Buga, and Nikolay Zemtsov have signed a cooperation agreement between the public movement All-Pridnestrovian People's Forum and the Russian movement Immortal Regiment of Russia.
As Igor Buga noted, Immortal Regiment marches have been held in Pridnestrovie for several years, and each year they become more and more popular.
«Immortal Regiment has become the commemoration regiment of the perished defenders of Pridnestrovie, the great history of international wars. It is the first time this year when an Immortal Regiment has followed the column of Afghan war veterans. This is the bridge between the past, present day and tomorrow. We have no right to forget our history and let someone rewrite it," underscored Igor Buga.
Nikolay Zemtsov has continued his visit in Pridnestrovie by meeting the president.
