Tiraspol, 27 January. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The meeting between the chairman of the Pridnestrovian government, Alexander Martynov, and Russia's presidential adviser Sergey Glazyev lasted more than an hour. They mainly talked about Pridnestrovie's economic situation and, in particular, its exports. According to Alexander Martynov, Pridnestrovian products are of high quality, but their prices are not competitive in the Russian market.
«There is the potential, but here we return to the barriers we have already talked about. They include import duties, VAT, limited access to MoD and government contracts," noted Alexander Martynov.
Pridnestrovie's exports to Russia amount to 8% today. A large part of goods, nearly 85%, account for Moldova and EU countries. Shoemakers did not export even a single pair of shoes to Russia last year. The situation should be changed, noted the premier. Pridnestrovie is poised to expand exports, work with the EU, but under current circumstances when VAT for our products in Russia is 18%, it is very difficult to do without foreign support.
«Our businesses cannot simply ensure the expanded reproduction of fixed assets. They cannot get upgraded because depreciation funds have been partially «washed out'. These are the four major problems to address. Otherwise, the situation will remain complicated. We are working on in this direction," said Alexander Martynov.
«We are mobilising the resources that used to go past the budget," noted Martynov. Besides, roadmaps should be drawn up to boost exports, to enhance the business climate in the country. An expert group is working to form mid-term fiscal and budgetary policy. Russia’s experience in this area is very important for Pridnestrovie.
Sergey Glazyev, in turn, said that Russia is ready to cooperate. According to him, there are several solutions to the country's existing problems.
«The first is to allocate money. You should work out plans and their implementation with all enterprises; impose sanctions on them, even if they are private," said Sergey Glazyev.
If necessary, Russian experts are ready to hold a methodological consultation, Glazyev added. The republic's development strategy, exports, monetary policy, exchange rate and a number of other issues will also be discussed with Russia's vice-premier, presidential representative on Pridnestrovie Dmitry Rogozin. The meeting will take place today. It will also be attended by Pridnestrovian President Vadim Krasnoselsky.
