Tiraspol, 20 September. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. On 17 September the citizens of the republic marked the 10th anniversary of the referendum in the PMR. Back then, 97% of Pridnestrovians voted in favour of the independence of the PMR and its subsequent free accession to Russia. If such a plebiscite were held today, 86.6% of Pridnestrovians would take part in it. 7.6% did not answer, and 5.8% would not take part in the vote.
According to the opinion poll conducted by the social sciences department of PSU, 88% of the pollees would vote again for the independence of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. If Pridnestrovians were asked what country they'd prefer to join, 94.1% of them would choose Russia.
In the meantime, 92.3% of respondents consider that Pridnestrovie should, first of all, develop cooperation with Russia and Eurasian Union countries. 4.4% of citizens regarded relations with Moldova as a priority, 0,4% with Ukraine, and 1% with the European Union.
65.4% of the poll participants noted that they had given their voice for Pridnestrovie's independence at the 2006 referendum. 3% of the pollees had voted for the rejection of Pridnestrovie's independence and subsequent accession to Moldova. 21.8% said they had not participated in the referendum.
The public opinion survey was conducted in all cities and districts of the PMR through a random and representative sample of 960 respondents.
