Tiraspol, 25 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The Ministry of Social Protection and Labour has summed up its work in 2015. Minister Yelena Kulichenko noted at today's board meeting that the living wage had decreased by 1.6% in 2015 due to inflation.
«The minimum wage amounted to 1,387 roubles in the public sector and 2,774 roubles in the private sector. The analysis of January-December salaries has showed that the country's average salary amounted to 3,865 roubles in 2015," said Yelena Kulichenko.
According to her, the average salary in the public sector decreased by 0.6% last year, totalling 2,658 roubles.
The first deputy Prime Minister, Alevtina Slinchenko, mentioned that the previous year was difficult in economic terms. Considerable budget shortages affected the financing of the Unified State Social Insurance Fund and social protection items.
«Since March pensions and public sector salaries were paid at an amount of 70%. Under those circumstances it was the correct decision. Today the government has completely cleared its indebtedness to pensioners. Besides, the government has been instructed to make up a schedule according to which salary debts will be paid off to public sector employees.
According to her, the government together with the Ministry of Social Protection and Labour is conducting a permanent monitoring of the situation.
«The payment of pensions will remain our priority. The 2016 budget will be socially oriented. About 70% of funds will be allocated to cover social protection items," said Alevtina Slinchenko.
