Tiraspol, 24 February. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. The head of the government has visited the hothouse complex Tiraspoltransgaz- Pridnestrovie. Its first batch of tomatoes was sold in the domestic market in October 2015. Since then the enterprise has grown 314 tonnes of tomatoes. With the estimated productivity of 60 kg per sq. m, the agronomists have set an ambitious task for themselves to yield 70 kg per sq. m, the government's press service reports.
«Tiraspoltransgaz sticks to its principles and implements social programmes. The new project has given job to 20 persons. It was launched last June and by the end of 2015 more than 2 million roubles were transferred to the budget.
With increasing frequency experts are highlighting the fact that the unavailability of the Russian and European markets for Turkish products has resulted in the saturation of the Pridnestrovian market with cheap tomatoes, very often of low quality. Therefore, the prime minister was interested, first of all, in the safety of the agricultural production. The hothouse director, Viktoria Sedova, assured him: «At the moment the enterprise is growing eco-friendly tomatoes without using any pesticides, with biological fertilizers only.»
Speaking about the hothouse's work, the CEO of Tiraspoltransgaz-Pridnestrovie, Petr Stepanov, focused on its heating system. Heat energy is supplied by a nearby gas-compressor station. Earlier, the heat produced during technological processes was emitted to the atmosphere, and now it is efficiently used to warm the vegetables.
During the conversation the chairman of the government emphasised the significance of the up-to-date, eco-friendly hothouse complex for the country's economy According to Pavel Prokudin, it may play an important role in the implementation of an import substitution programme.
The enterprise is planning to widen its product assortment and launch a second production line.
In addition, Pavel Prokudin visited the gas-compressor station which is the core of Pridnestrovie's gas-transport system.
