Tiraspol, 19 January. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. President Yevgeny Shevchuk has signed a decree On implementing the decision of the Security Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic aimed to increase macroeconomic stability and maintain citizens' prosperity.
The decree is issued to increase the economic security «in the conditions of increased outer risks, owing to the expansion and deepening of the global economic turbulence, sharp changes in the global economy, deceleration in the global economy growth and increasing economic instability in Pridnestrovie.»
The president has decided that, when determining the state's revenues and expenditures, a search for new solutions and additional measures securing socio-economic stability at the level of the macroeconomic indicators reached in 2015 (stable exchange rate, payment of salaries and pensions, low level of inflation, work of budget generating enterprises, population's employment) should be organised.
Yevgeny Shevchuk has charged public authorities to work out new budget and currency control mechanisms, «stirring up and involving the intellectual potential of new Supreme Council and government members who may have non-standard vision and approaches to economic instruments used to minimise negative foreign economic influence and smooth out the existing domestic economic imbalances.»
Pursuant to the decree, the government must form a crisis group with the involvement of leading economists representing public authorities, state university and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry «to process and analyse submitted proposals, summarise various views and elaborate both suggestions and additional efficient measures of responding to the situation within available resources and considering the projected development of crisis phenomena for a year or two.»
The president has also ordered the Coordination Council for the Support and Development of Tourism and the Council for the Development and Support of Small and Medium Businesses to increase their activities aimed at elaborating proposals for the development and support of small and medium businesses. A similar coordination council is supposed to be established under the Ministry of Agriculture.
According to the presidential decree, the government and the Supreme Council are charged to hold regular meetings with representatives of economic and political elites, major tax payers, hear their views of addressing the current economic situation for working out common coordinated steps to overcome the crisis phenomena.
The president demands that public authorities efficiently execute the tasks. The head of the Security Council, Vladislav Finagin, is responsible for the execution of the present decree. Work reports will be submitted to the president every month and published in media outlets.
It should be recalled that on 12 January 2016 President Shevchuk held a Security Council meeting. Special attention was given to the country's economic security aspects, existing and potential economic risks, the elaboration of response measures to the situation within existing resources.
