Joint Control Commission reviewed Joint Military Command's reports on the situation in the Security Zone

Also, military observers from Russia were confirmed in office during the session

Bendery, December 3. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today's JCC session has been rather productive. The head of the Pridnestrovie's delegation Oleg Belyakov gave such assessment after the end of the meeting, namely within the agenda of the emergency meeting JMC's reports of the last 10 weeks on the situation in the Security Zone were considered and acknowledged.

Also, the Commission has confirmed in office new military observers from the Russian Federation. At the same time, the Moldovan side has abstained from confirmation of the Russian representative in the JCC. The JCC cochairman from the PMR emphasized that work on the issue will be still continued.

«Entry of an emergency JCC session was made in the protocol. It means that the sides recognize legitimacy and that this issue is included in the agenda, and it will be reviewed. Signatures under the protocol show that there is the potential for further consideration of this issue," Oleg Belyakov stated.

When considering the main agenda of the meeting, the sides continued the discussion on the freedom of movement in the Security Zone. Positions of the sides remained unchanged. The Moldavan delegation insists on nonparticipation of conflicting sides in monitoring. Representatives of Pridnestrovie note that the existing mechanism of peacekeeping operation provides participation in it of both military observers and the Joint Control Commission itself.

«We are imposed such conditions that OSCE Mission must do it, that entirely other formats must be there, the analysis of the situation mustn't be provided by military officers, but someone else. There is an existing format of the agreement of 1992, so the monitoring issues are in the competence of military representatives and JCC. We can go to any of the checkpoints, to any of the military units and check any component of the peacekeeping operation," Oleg Belyakov told and added that it was counter-productive to make changes to the format which proved successful over the past 23 years.
