Estonian publisher Alexander Kornilov shared his impressions of a media tour in Pridnestrovie

It bears reminding that the trip to Pridnestrovie was organized by the Pridnestrovie's Humanitarian Fund between September 1 and September 5 under the auspices of the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Support Fund and the Pridnestrovie's Foreign Affairs Ministry

According to the Estonian journalist, the publisher of the Baltija.eu portal, the road from the Kishinev airport to the border of the unrecognized republic, to put it mildly, was unpleasantly surprising.

«Exactly the opposite situation was in Bendery (Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic). It was a clean, well-groomed, nice, East European city with good roads. In fact, Pridnestrovie's roads are good, cities are clean and well-groomed. I think, I may draw such conclusions, because I drove through all Pridnestrovie from the North to the South, that is from Rybnitsa in the north to Dnestrovsk in the south," Alexander Kornilov told.

He also noted that Pridnestrovie's people «had saved all sacred and good that had been in the USSR, everything that many compatriots were nostalgic about, that is goodwill to each other, affability and national cohesion».

«Representatives of many nationalities are living together in Pridnestrovie peacefully; the large ones are Russians, Ukrainians, Moldovans (there are 180 thousand of Russians with Russian passports in Pridnestrovie). Accordingly, three are three official languages and even though everyone generally speaks Russian, you can get education, including the higher one, in your native language. One can also be send any requests to the state authorities in Russian, Moldavian and Ukrainian languages," Alexander Kornilov told.

The Pridnestrovie's President Yevgeny Shevchuk made an impression of a courageous politician on the Estonian publisher, because not everyone can make decisions in such a difficult economic situation. As we remember, the Pridnestrovie's authorities had to cut down salaries and pensions by 30% in Pridnestrovie».

«In this context, it should be noted that in many countries, in similar situations, state authorities have chosen a way of local currency weakening, on the contrary and value of the Pridnestrovie's ruble is the same as during all latest years. However, as far as I understood, this decision was extremely unpopular. Of course, Russia provides comprehensive support, but the economic situation gets worse. After all, Pridnestrovie suffers from an economic blockade," Alexander Kornilov emphasized.

Alexander Kornilov considers that our republic needs financial and also diplomatic support in negotiations with neighbors in already existing formats, as well as in new and more effective ones.

«It is necessary to attend to the needs of compatriots in Pridnestrovie more accurately. After all, Pridnestrovians have always stood for independence, as well as for annexation to Russia. Of course, it is difficult to draw analogies, but I'm sure, if the situation similar to the one in Crimea in 2014 occurred, the outcome of a referendum would have been definite. The economic blockade made by Ukraine and Moldova such only fuels such public mood," he noted.
