Moldova's national team includes several Tiraspol athletes, Tatyana Salutskan and Evgeniy Papanin (swimming), Aleksey Oleynik (athletics) and Nikolay Cheban (judo), Radio 1 reports.
The Olympic village was officially opened yesterday, 20 July. The capital of Georgia is expected to host 3,500 athletes from 50 countries. The age of participants varies from 13 to 18, depending on the event.
There are nine events in the programme: judo, tennis, rhythmic gymnastics, cycling, athletics, swimming, volleyball, handball and basketball.
Winter and Summer European Youth Olympic Festivals take place once in two years. Earlier, the Bendery athletes, Anastasia Kalinina and Tatyana Chikanchi, became festival prize-winners in triple jump.
