The exhibits are designed as big open books, which present Bendery's history in the period of the Great Patriotic War and its principal milestones from the first war day to the liberation of Bendery during the Iasi-Kishinev offensive. The major part of the exhibition is dedicated to valiant heroes, many of whom took part in the liberation of the city. Each book opening features photographs and war stories, shared by the veterans with the project members — photographers of the women's photography club, the press office of the Bendery state administration reports.
The Great Patriotic War veterans, local authorities and photographers were present for the opening of the exhibition.
Photographer Yulia Yedinak, a member of the project, expressed gratitude to the veterans, heroes of the exhibition. «Thank you for the dignity you showed when posing for pictures. There is a feeling of great strength and might in each of you. Thank you for giving us the example to follow, the example which inspires us for great and noble deeds," she said.
It is not the first photography project of the kind in Pridnestrovie. The exhibition dedicated to veterans of the Great Patriotic War, «Heroes of the Great Victory», was organised in 2013. It featured photographs and stories of the veterans from across Pridnestrovie.
This year the photographers have decided to launch the same project in Bendery. Unfortunately, for objective reasons, including technical problems, the organisers could not cover all the veterans from Bendery. However, they promise to continue this work.
