During the meeting Vasili Kozhan, the CCI president, informed the Czech diplomat about the state of Pridnestrovie's economy, drawing attention to foreign trade issues Pridnestrovian economic agents face.
Statistics show foreign trade turnover between Pridnestrovie and the Czech Republic has been increasing from year to year, amounting to almost $ 6 million in 2014. Despite the general decline in Pridnestrovie's foreign economic activity, there has been growth of 40% in the past 3 months, although the trade turnover with the Czech Republic makes only 0.3% of Pridnestrovie's foreign trade volume.
Jaromír Kvapil expressed confidence that the trade turnover between the two states will keep on growing and, as far as possible, increase, the CCI press service reports.
The ambassador also said Czech businessmen are interested in the cooperation with the Pridnestrovian farmers. At the moment the economic department of the Czech embassy seeks for partners to supply sunflower seeds, sunflower oil, nuts and dried fruits to confectionery manufacturers in the Czech Republic.
At the close of the meeting the two sides agreed to exchange information on this issue and, in case interest arises, organise a meeting at Pridnestrovie's CCI with Pridnestrovian farmers in the second half of May.
