Moldova's side continues blocking Joint Control Comission's (JCC) work

Despite consent between the parties in 34 of 36 reports of Joint Military Command (JMC), the protocol of the session isn’t signed still

The next meeting of the Joint Control Commission took place in Bendery. Despite the fact that most of JMC’s reports were taken into consideration, it wasn’t possible to sign the protocol still. The question concerning the freedom of movement in the Safety Zone became a stumbling block again.

«The Moldova’s side flatly refuses to consider the JMC’s reports, the organizational issue concerning the appointment confirmation of the new OSCE representative, the current situation in the Safety Zone, some aspects in activity of the peacekeeping forces and the law enforcement agencies in the Safety Zone. As for the issue concerning the freedom of movement, the Pridnestrovie’s side is ready to debate on it, but only within the existing format of the peacekeeping operation. The Pridnestrovie’s side offers to consider this question also; however we have direct duties towards the peacekeeping forces who should monitor the situation. The only aspect is important today that the population should be aware that there are no preparations for the war today, and that everything occurring in Moldova and Pridnestrovie is under the peacekeeping forces' control," the JCC cochairman from Pridnestrovie Oleg Belyakov noted.

He emphasized the fact that it is counterproductive to distract the peacekeepers from their work today. He also marked out that inspection aimed to detect the smuggled goods, the weapon and ammunitions and the wanted persons is carried out at the checkpoints today. These activities cannot be regarded as the violations of the movement freedom in the Security Zone, the head of the delegation emphasized.

«Sometimes, there are detentions at the checkpoints, the protocols are drawn up, but it cannot be regarded as the violation of the free movement at all. We know, the same control functions are also performed by the Moldova’s side," Oleg Belyakov emphasized.

During the meeting, the Pridnestrovie’s delegation informed their colleagues from Moldova that the leaders of the republic had decided to ease the procedure of the state border crossing during the Easter and May holidays. They also agreed to reshedule the introduction of the Compulsory Automobile Liability Insurance for the car owners from the Republic of Moldova.
