Opening the meeting, Nina Shtanski emphasised that Russia is still actively involved in the process of normalising the relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova and "remains a consistent, influential and active guarantor."
According to Pridnestrovie's foreign minister, today the relations between Moldova and Pridnestrovie are burdened with a complex of sophisticated restrictions, sanctions, blockades, and Moldova and Ukraine's coordinated actions yet more strangle the Pridnestrovian economy. At the same time, these problems do not only influence the dialogue between Pridnestrovie and Moldova, but also affect social and socio-political climate in the republic.
"Every Pridnestrovian feels these difficulties. We hope that the formation of a new negotiation team in Moldova and the work we plan to continue tomorrow will permit us to discover the positive impulses that will lead to the stabilisation of the situation. However, Pridnestrovie is still open to a dialogue and sees no alternative to this dialogue," underscored the minister of foreign affairs.
Nina Shtanski recalled that the Pridnestrovian side advanced the initiative to hold a separate meeting of the 5+2 format participants for finding out "their attitude towards the fundamental documents of the negotiation process."
"It is necessary to review all documents of the negotiation process and determine mechanisms guaranteeing their implementation. Unfortunately, much of the agreements reached is not kept," said Pridnestrovie's foreign minister.
