The special forces have honed their skills at suppressing mass riots and releasing hostages
This is a scheduled exercise, which is held by the ministry twice a year and is a part of special tactics training of the ministry staff. This includes practising of some battle disposition elements.
According to the legend of today's exercise, the special forces are to suppress potential mass riots and release hostages kept in the court house. Tyres on fire, Molotov cocktails and a crowd of aggressive thugs - from the sidelines all these resembled the notorious Kiev Maidan. However, the resemblance was not intentional, said the chief of the Tiraspol Interior Department, Alexander Leshchinskiy. "Today we have practised some elements of suppressing mass riots. These are generally accepted rules of training such exercises by special forces," he said.
Almost 1,000 militia officers from all over Pridnestrovie, as well as the Ministry of Justice riot squad, took part in today's exercise. According to the interior minister, Gennadiy Kuzmichev, they all have successfully coped with the task. "We have trained all battle disposition elements, reinforced the skills acquired during the previous exercise, practised the organisation and management of the composite detachment and the Interior Ministry's attached units for fulfilling different tasks," he concluded.
President Yevgeny Shevchuk was also satisfied with what he saw. He thanked the personnel for the demonstrated skills and noted that the skills might be required for the prevention of possible negative situations. "I wish you to participate in the events like that only during the exercises. I hope it will do so," said the president.
