Russia's MFA: USA 'usurps' position of Head of OSCE Mission to Moldova

According to Russia's foreign affairs minister, Sergey Lavrov, only American diplomats have been appointed to this post

"We'd like the Americans to get involved in the constructive activity. After all, they are observers (in the 5+2 Talks on the Pridnestrovian settlement). What is more, they have usurped the position of the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova. It looks like they succeed one another to this post - one American leaves, another comes in," said Lavrov during an open lecture in Moscow, reports   RIA Novosti.

According to the minister, the situation when one state dominates over a settlement process to the end of time is faulty. This is why the Russian authorities tried to change this practice when the latest reappointment took place.

"Unfortunately, there were no other applicants. A certain work seems to have been undertaken. Now the American (the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, Ambassador Michael Scanlan, ed.) is in charge of the Pridnestrovian settlement again," said Lavrov, adding that the first report Scanlan has submitted to the OSCE permanent council "is not quite unbiased."
