The corresponding bill has been approved by the Supreme Council in the first reading
During the regular plenary of the Supreme Council the MPs supported the introduction of a single voting day for local and parliamentary elections, the Novosti Pridnestrovya news agency reports.
This initiative was submitted to the parliament by the President in the mode of legislative necessity. The President's spokeswoman, Irina Barbarosh, noted in her speech "the introduction of a single voting day will save 7 million roubles of budget funds for 2015 elections."
"Russia also has its single voting day," recalled Irina Barbarosh, adducing additional argument for the approval of this norm within the framework of harmonising Pridnestrovie's legislation with that of the Russian Federation.
According to the MPs, the introduction of this norm will help to resolve another essential problem in the electoral process - low turnout for the election.
