Memoranda signed in Moscow may contribute to Pridnestrovie's social and economic stability

This has been stated today by the President of Pridnestrovie during the briefing at the Parlamentskaya Gazeta newspaper's press centre

As was stated by the News of Pridnestrovie news agency, yesterday the Russian Government have concluded seven interagency memoranda with the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic aimed at developing economic ties between Russia and Pridnestrovie.

According to the President, the visit of the Pridnestrovian delegation has revealed that the Russian leadership has consistently been adhering to the norms stipulated in international documents within the framework of the commitments Russia had made. It concerns the memorandum signed in 1997, under which Moldova and Pridnestrovie are obliged to avoid unilateral steps aimed at aggravating the situation for either side.

"When our Moldovan partners began to unilaterally change the rules for Pridnestrovian economic agents, we turned to the Russian Federation as a guarantor state, seeking for the possibility of implementing the previously agreed international document on the development and intensification of economic relations between Russia and Pridnestrovie," the President said.

"We hope this step (signing of seven interagency memoranda, ed.) will contribute to social and economic stability in Pridnestrovie," Yevgeniy Shevchuk pointed out.
