Tiraspol, January, 22. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Today, January 22, marks 26 years since the signing of the Treaty on Friendship and Cooperation between the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and the Republic of Abkhazia. This basic document, which was signed by the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Abkhazia Vladislav Ardzinba and the PMR President Igor Smirnov in 1993, still serves as the basis for the formation of the existing relations between two fraternal republics.
According to the text of the first Treaty, 10 years later - since 2003 - it is being automatically renewed every five years, if that is not hindered by any party. The new Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Abkhazia was signed on September 29, 2017 by the presidents of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and the Republic of Abkhazia Vadim Krasnoselski and Raul Khadzhimba. On the eve of New 2018, the Treaty was ratified by the parliaments of both states.
The document, as in the past, reflects the modern realities of the legal and political field. It once again confirms the mutual recognition of independence and sovereignty by the republics, expresses readiness to further deepen the partnership and bring interstate relations to a qualitatively new level.
Today, the two republics are connected by more than thirty different interstate and interdepartmental documents. An agreement on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation between the Gudauta district of the Republic of Abkhazia and Dubossary district and the city of Dubossary of Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic have been signed.
Interdepartmental work is also being carried out in the field of culture, sports and education on the platforms of various conferences and forums. In the capitals of the republics there are official representations operating.
