Tiraspol, 9 May. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. Russia's ambassador to Moldova Farit Mukhametshin sent a message of congratulation on Victory Day to WWII veterans and compatriots. The diplomat noted that the Great Patriotic War was inscribed in the history of the 20th as the era of a heroic feat, courage and blessed faith in victory, which brought together people in the struggle for freedom of their motherland, the diplomat noted.
"The citizens of Russia, Moldova and other former Soviet republics are united by their respect for the generation of winners who shoulder to shoulder fought against Nazism, forging the Great Victory. Overcoming pain, deprivation and loss, our fathers, grandfathers, great grandfathers managed to crush 'the brown plague', which seized many countries. They showed an example of true nobility, the greatness of the human spirit and true patriotism.
Flames of war did not spare anyone, affecting all Soviet citizens," says the Russian ambassador's message.
Farit Mukhametshin quoted Russia's President Putin: "The makers of the Great Victory were marshals and soldiers, militia and home front workers, partisans and underground fighters. The old and the young. People of different nationalities, professions."
"We must prevent the revival of the ideology of 'exclusiveness' and 'national superiority'." The careful preservation of the memory of WWII heroism is our duty for the sake of historical truth and a peaceful future for mankind. On May 9, we will lay flowers at memorials and on mass graves, in the unified ranks of "Immortal Regiment" we will march with portraits of the makers of the Great Victory, bowing our heads in memory of those who have not returned from the battlefields.
