The joint checkpoint Palanca-Mayaki-Udobnoye has been opened at the Moldo-Ukrainian border. Another post was earlier established at the Kuchurgan-Pervomaysk border crossing. As Pridnestrovian President Vadim Krasnoselsky noted in an interview with Russia's Nezavisimaya Gazeta, despite the fact that the post near Palanca village does not directly border on the Pridnestrovain territory and the Security Zone, it is located near the conflict zone, which is disturbing.

"There is a security zone in the region. This is the area where hostilities took place, but the conflict zone is wider. The first checkpoint in Kuchurgany borders on the Security Zone, and the one that was opened in Palanca borders on the conflict zone," explained the president.

According to him, “the border posts is the start of Kishinev's force scenario against Pridnestrovie."

"This refers to the economic suffocation of the region, and this is a consolidated decision of all Moldovan authorities. ВPresident Igor Dodon has also backed the idea of establishing joint Moldo-Ukrainian checkpoints. Although a decision has been taken at a "Permanent Conference..." meeting that everything that concerns Pridnestrovie should be discussed at the negotiating table with the involvement of Tiraspol representatives. But no one has ever discussed anything with us. The decision to establish the post was taken in violation of the resolution of the '5+2' format," underscored Krasnoselsky.

He noted that "the Pridnestrovian side turned to '5+2' participants with a proposal to discuss the situation around the post, but only Russia supported us."

Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled that the establishment of border posts was funded by the EU: "There were plans to open 13 of them, but, as far as I know, there are financial problems now. But they will find money and will continue building them."

The Moldo-Ukrainian border posts are established with the financial support of the EU and the UN Development Programme in Moldova. The next post is to be established neat the Danube ports — Moldova's Giurgiulesti and Ukraine's Reni.

The Pridnestrovian side has repeatedly underscored that such unilateral activities can cause considerable damage to the country's economy. Tiraspol stands for considering this issue at a "5+2" meeting. Russia supports the need to resolve the problem diplomatically.
