Tiraspol, 7 September. /Novosti Pridnestrovya/. A delegation of the Society of South-East European Countries, including retired German professors, visited Shevcheko Pridnestrovian State University (PSU). Anong them are assistant professors, professors and specialists in economics, politics and journalism, PSU's website reports.
The society includes about 450 members. They started their trip in Romania, then visited Moldova and Georgia and could not miss Pridnestrovie.
The guests were interested in the university's approach towards studying the German language and culture. The PSU rector, Stepan Beril, noted that the university paid as much attention to German as to the other foreign languages — English and French. According to him, the leadership had repeatedly proposed to establish a special German language centre, but this required support and assistance of the German embassy to Moldova.
The visitors wanted to know if foreign specialists worked at PSU, if the university takes part in various international programmes and asked about the financial position of professors and students.
At the end of the meeting, the rector thanked the German delegation for their interest to the university. The guests promised to make a note of the issue of PSU's cooperation with the German embassy to Moldova.
